Care and Cleaning of your Wing Nutz Calls

All Wing Nutz Goose and Duck calls come hand tuned direct from the shop. In most cases, upon arrival to you, your call will not need to be tuned. If it doesn’t sound right at first try, give us a call before you‘re-tune’ to make sure it does need tuning and it’s not just a technique issue. The Wing Nut in all of us may make you ‘have’ to tune your call….it’s a curse we all live with we think.

Goose Calls:

If you want to take your call apart, by all means please do so. We don’t think you’ll ever need to unless something large gets stuck in the mouthpiece or the end of the call. Most small pieces of debris and dirt can be easily removed by running water through the call backwards. Use a very small amount of water pressure when doing this, to help keep the guts in proper place, only to remove whatever dirt or debris may be in your call.

Duck Calls:

Much of the same applies to your Wing Nutz duck call as does for your goose call. Simply run a small amount of water, at low pressure through the call backwards, to rinse your call out. You can remove the insert from the barrel and clean on the barrel or only the insert (where the reed and cork are) if you so choose. Be careful not to move, bend or break the reed or cork when rinsing the call with water. This will most likely affect the sound of the call if this happens and it will probably need to be re-tuned.
